Ganges – live at La Radio Encendida, Madrid – March 19, 2023 – RNE Radio 3 –
Ganges to start the week. Performing live at La Radio Encendida festival in Madrid this past March and broadcast live by Radio Nacional España on March 19th.
Ganges originally began as a three piece but morphed into a single project of Teresa Gutierrez, whose voice casts a sensual and ethereal glow over a cascading flood of notes and phrases. Hers is a unique and captivating instrument – free of electronic embellishment and falsehoods. A pure and enchanting presence that is inspired by London Grammar and Lykke Li, but not in the mold of.
What separates Ganges from much of the current state of Dream Pop is a caressing delicacy that is softly yet profoundly engaging. It’s her voice – it is pure magic and it takes the listener on a wonderful journey.
Ganges by way of Teresa, has been getting a considerable amount of praise and fans over the past few years, ever since her debut album was released in 2018. She has been performing at all the major (and minor) festivals in Spain and is slated to perform at this years Primavera Sound festival.
But for all the grand scale exposure; the tours and the radio sessions, like this one – there is still an air of inescapable intimacy about Ganges and the voice of Teresa Gutierrez. That, I think, will be a constant and won’t change. She is singing more in English which may indicated a desire to travel at least across the channel for exposure around the UK. One hopes she decides to trek further west, across the ocean to dates in the U.S. – it would be a welcome breath of fresh air.
Okay – press play and see what you think.
