Turnstile – lighting fuses

Turnstile – live from The Washington Monument – October 24, 2026

Whoever recorded this (Gloss on Youtube ) did an amazing job. I would urge you to head over to the YouTube page to check out the visual energy and sheer size of the crowd at the Washington Monument over the weekend. They have also posted a link where they can use your support: Donate to Human Concern International Here: https://humanconcern.org – so, do what you can.

One of the things that got me concerned during our current situation, not only here but throughout the rest of the world, is what I was considering a certain apathy on the part of the Music community. The Vietnam War era produced more than enough music of Protest by artists and bands clearly committed to making a difference in the grand scheme of things. The past few years, not so much at all.

However, during the last few weeks leading up to the mid-term elections in the U.S. (as of today, less than seven days) there has been considerable movement in getting the younger generation out to the polls, venting anger over what has become a truly unsustainable atmosphere in our country and a certain anger to implement those changes as well as frustration that or political system has become largely ineffectual.

So Turnstile fits right in – right band – right message – right time.

Punk, in its purest form, was always about anger and frustration over the status quo and doing it via Music (and of course fashion). Music is the one language that is universally understood – no matter who, no matter where.

So having Turnstile play at one of the biggest No Kings event at The Washington Monument where the crowd listening to the band numbered well into the thousands, it says something about how powerful music actually is.

With even just the audio – the message and intent are untouched, and the intensity is unmistakeable.

With all that in mind – it’s time for you to grab lunch, have a seat and crank this one up. May make digestion a big kinetic but the intention more than makes up for it.

Go for it.
