Another session from Nantes, France tonight – Xameleon as recorded during a Sun Session – September 19, 2025
As the band themselves put it -Xameleon are Millennial Indie Pop. In French and English. Intimate songs for a world that’s too big.
In a nutshell, the idea for the Xameleon musical project took shape during a British trip by its founder, Irving Rhingo. Upon returning to France, he entered the Jump talent competition in the Paris region, winning the competition and releasing his first EP, “Pourquoi le monde tourne t-il autour de toi?” (Why Does the World Revolve Around You?), in 2019. Quickly growing tired of his solo venture, the singer and guitarist left Orléans and settled in Tours, where he joined the indispensable Victoria James Geiseler, aka Tori (machines, synth, bass). Tori’s crystalline voice can be heard on the track “Ailleurs” (Elsewhere), in a duet on “Bonne question” (Good Question), and she also contributes backing vocals and lyrics. Alongside them is Pierre Allouch, from the jazz scene, who plays both electric guitar and keyboards, further solidifying this French-speaking trio with its poetic indie-pop influences. The support programs Télescope au Temps Machine and Propul’son take turns offering this promising young group the residencies necessary for its development. In 2023, supported by its booking agent Konsato, Xameleon played a series of concerts and opened for Florent Marchet, November Ultra, and Pierre de Maere before releasing a second EP, “Les Hauteurs,” at the end of the year.
