– Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – Live At Best Kept Secret Festival 2015 – June 20, 2015 – VPRO/3VOOR12 –

The highlight of a great opening day at the Best Kept Secret Festival in Holland in 2015 had to go to Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

A sold out crowd which began late in the afternoon that Saturday, Noel Gallagher ended up the day on a high note – further evidence 2015 was turning into a great festival season in Europe.

I don’t think there is any dispute with the notion that Noel Gallagher has hit a new high via this phase of his career – it’s the next logical step in a journey that began with Oasis, but has graduated several levels above what was started two decades ago. This is assured, confident music, executed by an artist who has a clear idea of what he’s going after. As I noted after seeing his first U.S. tour, he’s enjoying what he’s doing and it shows – he’s writing solid, well-constructed music with substance – and it’s a pleasure to listen to because it’s coming from a sincere and committed place.

If you missed his U.S. appearances, I would urge you to check Noel Gallagher out next time he’s in town – he’s a must-see artist.

In the meantime, have a listen to what he was up to in 2015.

Enjoy and play very loud.

February is lumbering along and Past Daily is still looking for support. We don’t run ads so we need contributors to keep us up and running. Costs even more now than it did this time last year. But we’re still offering you the best of what’s in the archive – yes, this is all from our Collection (except the sessions and concerts – gotta give credit where credit is due – BBC 6 Music and Radio X in London and RNE In Madrid are essential sources of finding new music) but everything is the result of yours truly digging into boxes, climbing over shelves, falling into dumpsters. It’s history, it’s important and it’s yours if you want it. All you have to do is please subscribe via Patreon (that little box at the bottom of this post) – click on it and you’ll be taken to their site where you can subscribe to Past Daily, let them know how much you want to donate – or check us out for free, test drive our site, as it were, and decide to become part of the Past Daily experience. Simple, painless and we’ll love you for it. Do it if you can and you’ll be able to download your own copy of all our posts and new ones as they appear. Kind of cool, don’t you think? But you have to become a Patron in order to do it. Think about it – no pressure – honest – really . . no pressure. But there’s this landlord and these bills and all this equipment to keep working . . . .
