– Little Green Cars – Live At Eurosonic 2013 –
Irish Alternative/Indie band Little Green Cars were pegged by BBC 6 Music in December of last year as The Band To Watch in 2013. They were busy making inroads and gaining an audience in that time. Actually, they got started earlier, doing a quick tour of the U.S. in October 2012, making appearances and doing studio sessions at a number of Public Radio outlets around the country. Since signing with Glassnote Music, the band toured America and the UK extensively. The US portion of the 2013 tour included a live performance of their single Harper Lee on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. The band played at the 2013 SXSW music festival, Coachella, Lollapalooza 2013 and the 2013 Osheaga festival in Montréal. On 7 January 2016 they announced their second album, Ephemera, going to be released on 11 March 2016 in BBC Radio 1 and played their first single from the album, The Song They Play Every Night. The album was named after a poem by Irish Nobel-prized poet W. B. Yeats about slowly fading love. On 10 February they uploaded the official audio of their new song, Easier Day, on their YouTube channel and the music video which was uploaded to their Vevo channel.
The band announced on 21 March 2019 that they were disbanding. In the wake of the band’s breakup, several past members formed Soda Blonde.
Tonight it’s a concert from Eurosonic 2013, and a performance from Little Green Cars with no hint of disbanding; ever. But six years later, it was a different story. Here’s a reminder. Get ready for the weekend.
If you’ve spent any time poking around social media and visiting websites the one thing that may hit you is how unique Past Daily actually is. It’s music you may not be familiar with or have forgotten about – it’s history without turning it into an “eat your vegetables” exercise – it’s people from the past; iconic and notorious who you may have read about or heard about but never actually heard what they had to say. It’s the occasional odd observation on life and living the day-to-day which may prompt you to nod or wince. One thing Past Daily is not is boring. The world is in a constant state of change and it’s good to be reminded that, very often, we’ve been on this road before and have experienced the same results. Sometimes we’ve learned from them, but a lot of times we haven’t -so the reminder that life is this gigantic adventure that very often has some good things attached to can be a comfort and a relief. That’s why Past Daily is here – we’re not here to hustle you for money for things you don’t want or need – we’re not here to trash anybody or anything or get you outraged – we’re here to turn you on to things that might, just possibly, add something to your life. That’s the deal and that’s why becoming a subscriber to Patreon – or even kicking in a few bucks via PayPal or Buy Me A Coffee is crucial and your way of keeping us up and running every day. It’s expensive to keep us going – but we’re committed to giving you the best and most unique. So, long story short – click on the “Become A Member” icon below, or click on the Buy Me A Coffee link, the PayPal link and help become part of the solution – it’s easy and painless – honest.
