An interview this week with legendary sculptor/painter Jacques Lipchitz. At the vanguard of the Cubist movement in the early part of the 20th century Lipchitz, along with colleagues Modigliani, Picasso and Juan Gris, revolutionized the Art world and Lipchitz became synonymous with Cubist Sculpture.
At the outbreak of World War 2, Lipchitz fled Paris and eventually settled in the U.S. where he continued to work, alternating between painting and sculpting.
This interview, part of the Sum and Substance series of interviews, was conducted by Dr. Herman Harvey around March of 1963.
