Arcade Fire to kick off Hump Day – Recorded live at BBK Festival in Bilbao a few days ago (July 13) by the venerable RNE Radio 3.
Festival season is off and running – keeping up with it is a full day job (if only . . .), but one thing is for certain; it’s flying off the charts in variety and genre-bending. Further evidence the concept of Festivals is the best thing to come along since Mineral Water – it’s about the only place the casual listener can be inundated with Popular Culture and come away being turned on to new things. That’s healthy and it’s essential if current Music culture is going to survive.
Hearing music live is always an invigorating experience – for the artist as well as the audience – it confirms or lays to rest rumors and hunches that any given artist is relying too heavily on pre-records and gimmicks or flying on their own in front of 50,000 people; baking or in pouring rain.
Arcade Fire has been around a while, getting started in 2001 and getting known in 2004 and they’ve been busy ever since. Reviews for this gig have been glowing and positive.
And now you get to hear for yourself.
Stay sane, two more days before the weekend; three if you count this one – but . . .
As you probably know by now, Past Daily is going through a few changes. Over the past several months we’ve been introducing new features and losing old ones. We’ve begun to run ads, only because we really need the income to stay online and hope this isn’t a problem. Of course, if you consider subscribing and becoming a Patron via Patreon, you get the posts ad-free and the option to download all the audio we post here – our way of saying thank you for your support. Joining Patreon is easy and we’ve made it even easier for you by offering you a free trial to kick the tires, as it were. All you have to do is click on the red box just below, the one that says Become A Patron, and be part of the family. We’ll be offering more perks as time goes on – but we need to get stable first and we can only do that with your support. So do everybody a favor and join us – we’d love to have you!
