Jessie Ware – Live at Sveriges Radio P3 – February 28, 2013

This morning a look back at some of the artists who did Glastonbury proud this year. Jessie Ware was a standout during the Saturday portion of the festival, so I thought I would dig a bit into the archives and pull out a concert she performed at Sveriges Radio P3 Studios, recorded on February 28th 2013.

Ware has been one of those amazing overnight sensations – well, not really. Around for a while and confined to the role of backup singer for a number of acts, Jessie Ware finally stepped out on her own last year and was met with rave reviews and skyrocketing album sales. And by the looks of it, there seems to be no sign of letting up. She has a new and much-anticipated album slated for release shortly.

Falling into a sort of Retro/R&B/Soul/Indie place, Ware’s talent makes her success clearly apparent. She’s always known her way around a song and phrases it exquisitely.  There have been comparisons to Sade in how she shapes a song. But Jessie Ware is her own person, and its no wonder she wasn’t destined to stay in a support role for every long. 2024 is going to be a very busy year, by the looks of it. Big tour all over Europe and many, if not most of the festivals slate for the summer. But back to 2013 . . .

She fills this 45 minute set with some very smooth and delicious material, and it makes for a mellow evening all around.

And considering how insane the week is planning on being . . . .mellow goes very well right about now.

And in case you were wondering – we’re going through some changes over here at Past Daily – switching things up a bit as we have the past few months. We’ve been forced to run ads because we’re just not making the nut every month. BUT – as a Patreon subscriber, not only do you get to download all the audio from Past Daily for free, but you also get it without any ads. We’re not going to paper the site like we did a long time ago, but we’ve got to run them. We’re also keeping PayPal and Buy Me A Coffee as alternatives, although at the moment neither of those allows you to download audio or escape the ads – but we’re working on it. At any rate, we’re still here – we’re still cranking posts out of all our usual eclectic History/Pop Culture/Music from the archive so we’re not changing in that respect. We’re doing the other stuff so we can stick around – as soon as it all gets straightened out, I’ll post links – but in the meantime, breath easy – we ain’t goin’ nowhere.
