Sticking around Madrid tonight for a session by the captivating Maria Yfeu, recorded for Los Conciertos de Radio 3 on February 28, 2025.
For some background, here’s a great piece from Laganzua. net, written by Ricardo García Carrión
“All is not lost yet; there are still young musicians capable of moving, exploring interesting paths, and drawing from classical sources to offer something new, fresh, and full of quality. With this album, titled “Haz lo Tuyo” (Raso, 2025), María Yfeu takes a great leap forward in her musical offering, daring to take risks with personal and intimate lyrics, always embellished with that special, jazzy, and detailed voice, thus completing a compact work that is enjoyable from beginning to end and that shows a future path that will undoubtedly be worth following closely.
With a solid musical background and a long-standing career despite her youth, María Yfeu began releasing songs in 2019, attracting attention for her unique, nuanced, and unusual voice.
From the very beginning, the Sevillian artist showed a fondness for jazz influences , something reflected in her first full-length album (“Santo Amaro”, 2022), published only in digital format and in which she mainly relied on English for the lyrics. On this album, María offered a very varied and musically rich catalog of songs, without following a very clear path but hinting at a very interesting future, one that, above all, differs from the usual musical proposals of her generation.
After a period of not releasing her own material, in February 2025 she finally released (only in digital format for the moment) “Haz o tuyo” (Make It or Yours), a pop album that now marks her newfound direction. The songs are now much simpler in composition, unpretentious, and straight to the heart.
The emphasis on Spanish (just a couple of English phrases in the chorus of a song) allows her to tell very personal stories and imbue that special voice with greater emotion, making her unmistakable.”
Check the rest of the article out as well as a track-by-track breakdown of her latest album, which came out in February of this year.
In the meantime – wrap yourself up in some magic and be amazed.
