Georgia McKiernan of Georgian – a few steps beyond ethereal.

Something wonderful to end a completely out-of-control/beyond strange week. The new (debut) single by Georgian. A band that has grabbed, not only my attention but just about everyone the band has come in contact with in recent weeks.

Here’s a few words via Oculate, which sums up just about everything I was looking for in a band on a night like this:

Manchester-based band Georgian, spearheaded by the talented Georgia McKiernan, has made a striking entrance into the music scene with the release of their debut single, ‘Big Lips in Leather’. Heralding the arrival of a distinctive sound that merges the psychedelic elements of the 1960s with a Western flair, creating a modern yet nostalgically rich auditory experience.

Formed by McKiernan and completed by band members Harry George, Charlie Rogers, James Poole, and Josh Gunton, Georgian has crafted a sound that is as unique as it is evocative. Their debut single ‘Big Lips in Leather’ serves as a sensual and atmospheric introduction to their music, characterized by honeyed vocals and haunting melodies.

Georgia McKiernan describes the song as “a vulnerable, playful, and soulful expression of affection,” adding that it balances a warm tone with the cold imagery of winter to create a moody and haunting atmosphere. Produced and recorded in Amsterdam by Arno Stols at Magenta Studios, the track encapsulates the early stages of affection, where longing and vulnerability coexist with a playful spirit.

“Big Lips in Leather is basically about fancying the pants off of someone. It’s a song that is vulnerable, playful, and soulful all at the same time, and the warm tone juxtaposes the lyrical imagery of cold winters to create a moody and haunting atmosphere.”

Over the past year, Georgian has been making a name for themselves with live performances across the UK. Notable appearances include a festival set at Dot to Dot and a sold-out headline show at YES Manchester. Fans can look forward to more live performances, including a set at the Manchester Psych Fest, with additional shows to be announced soon.

I am hoping to grab one of their live shows soon – in the meantime – here’s Big Lips In Leather and Soleil to give a taste of what’s coming. Go over to their Bandcamp Site and give some support. It’s SO worth it.

The week is over – thank god for small favors. Dive in and forget:
