Sticking close to Spain tonight with a set by Victorias at the 21st annual La Radio Encendida Festival sponsored by RNE Radio 3 on March 23, 2025.

Victorias (Victories in English), are from Seville, have been around since 1985 and at the time of this concert (in March of this year) they had just released Emotional in February and had been touring in support of it.

The following is from an interview with Victorias, published in Mundo Musicos in Spain, to give you some background:

Mundo Musicos: We spoke with the Seville band Victorias, who gave us a sneak peek and announced their “emotional” album , which will be released on February 13th in digital format and on limited edition clear vinyl.
We’ve listened to Victorias’ new album and were amazed by this band that’s going to be a hot topic in 2025. “No hemos Aprendido nada” is a song you won’t be able to get out of your head. We love the chorus; we hope you like it as much as we do… and here’s a short interview we did with them.
How did this adventure of forming a band begin?

Well, it all started with a group of friends and classmates. We would get together to listen to music or just hang out until that magical question came up: “What if we form a band?” With zero idea of playing an instrument, of course.

As we understand it today, it’s a tribe. Members have come and gone, but those of us who have felt that V for Victory within us are still here, giving our all to keep growing and learning every day.

Who are you? Who are in the group?

Victorias is four of us: Ire, Rafa, Chris, and Juanma, but Victorias isn’t just the band itself. We’re the entire team: manager, communications, producer, and luckily, the rest is growing every day. We’re very happy to be able to work closely with such excellent people who make this journey as exciting as possible.

For someone who has never heard you, how would you define the sound of your band?

Labeling ourselves is something we don’t particularly like. We don’t like it because we don’t know how to respond either, haha.

Victorias is what we’ve always wanted to do. It’s an evolution, following a path, with our ideas, our tastes, and our ways of making songs. Maybe one day you feel like listening to indie music, and the next, classical music. It’s all about the emotions of the moment.

What can you tell us about the latest single you recorded, called “We Haven’t Learned Anything”?

It’s a topic that, although it may seem like pure pessimism, not all is lost. Losing hope is what we should leave for the end of endings, always keeping in mind the optimism that the next one will be better.

For us, it speaks to the band itself, to ourselves, to seeing everything in a dark place, to how time passes, and when you look back and see how far we’ve come, you still think, “Damn, we still have so much to learn.” Sometimes, the band can get to you, the stress can get to you, but we look to that optimism of saying, fight and hang in there, tomorrow will be better.

When can we see you live?

We’re releasing our album on February 13th, and then on February 21st in Seville, at Sala X. It’s a wonderful presentation in our hometown. But for those of you who aren’t far away, from February to May we’re touring halfway across the country, visiting Malaga, Granada, Madrid, Zaragoza, Bilbao, Valencia…

Do you have any anecdotes that have happened to you related to the musical world?

Life on the road, soundchecks, and especially post-concerts are a lot of fun. We’ll always remember all those moments when amazing artists, fans of ours since we were kids, shared every moment with us. The Best? Jes de Sidonie wearing your band t-shirt and giving everything at their concert, being your fucking fans, and then having a great time with them… priceless.

Anything else you want to tell us?

Well, you have the album very soon on all platforms. We don’t consider it “just another one”; it’s The Album. The best of us, because when you express the truth within yourself, what moves you, what stirs you inside, and you let those emotions surface, everything is pure. We wanted to show WHO Victorias are, one by one, and together, and the best of all is that, inexplicably, we can all connect with a song at some point on the album.”

If you want to check out what else is happening musically in Spain right now, I would suggest bookmarking Mundo Musicos and see what’s going on – in short, a lot. In the meantime, crank it up and give Victorias a few minutes.
