Prince – to say he’s missed would be an understatement.

Prince – in concert at The Ritz in New York – recorded on March 22, 1981 – part of the Dirty Mind Tour.

Ironic that it was ten years ago, yesterday (April 21, 2016) that we lost Prince. The last one anybody thought wouldn’t make it to a rip old age. Ten years since his passing and the world noticed it only slightly – only slightly because life ten years later is filled to capacity with distractions, anger, fear, hatred and endless grief. And the world has no time to reflect – to look back at a time that, far from perfect and teetering even then, has gone off the rails and slid into the abyss now.

We can never forget the music that moves us, that defines us, that becomes the glue that holds our lives together – and we can never forget the ones who did that for us – whose minds and spirits and limitless talents spoke directly to us – got under our skin and stayed there – became part of our DNA – gave us hope – filled our souls.

Prince was all those things to a lot people – how we’ve forgotten that is almost unconscionable – but under the circumstances, understandable.

Music is the thing that lifts our hearts – frees our minds – embraces our spirit. It would be safe to say we hardly feel any of that now.

But – if there is part of you that wants to remember – who can’t forget no matter what – who is dying to be nourished – perhaps pressing play might help. This concert recording is not complete, it’s only a little over an hour. But the impact is still there – the spirit is far from extinguished.

Maybe an hour away from the world is just what you need – just what we all need.

Press play and see.
