Go Gos
The Go Gos – The band America fell in love with (in a sensible way).

– The Go Go’s Live At Emerald City, Cherry Hill New Jersey – Aug.31, 1981 WMMR-FM – Philadelphia – Gordon Skene Sound Collection

Celebrating Monday with a slice of Americana in the form of The Go Go’s, live in concert at Emerald City on August 31, 1981.

The Go Gos who came up through the ranks of local Punk outlets, word-of-mouth and KROQ starting in 1978, The Go Go’s became international sensations when their first single “Our Lips Are Sealed” came out. Co-written by guitarist Jane Wiedlin and Jerry Hall of Fun Boy Three, it became something of an anthem for the early 80s and a change in direction from Punk to Power Pop for the band.

This concert, part of the tour promoting Beauty And The Beat, their debut album, was recorded by Philadelphia station WMMR and broadcast live on August 31, 1981.

It’s recommended you turn this one up and celebrate getting out of bed on a Monday morning. Just suggesting.

Enjoy either way.
