Leo Nadelmann – His reputation as a legendary Pianist outshone his talents as composer and conductor.

Back to the archives of Swiss Radio this week. A performance of Sinfonietta Americana by Leo Nadelmann with the composer leading the Radio Orchestra of Beromünster in this recording made by RTS on February 8, 1964.

The Swiss composer and pianist, an outstanding interpreter of Schubert and Chopin, composed incidental music, vocal music, orchestral works, ballets, instrumental, chamber, and piano music. In 1969 he became president of the International Music Centre (IMZ) Vienna, and from 1965 to 1978 he headed the music department of Swiss television.
